Professor Michel Haïssaguerre, winner of the Eric N. Prystowsky Lectureship Award

Prof Michel Haissaguerre is the 2022 recipient of the Eric N. Prystowsky Lectureship Award, in recognition of his significant and unique achievements in clinical electrophysiology.

Professor Michel Haïssaguerre has pioneered the detection of the importance of pulmonary veins in the origins of atrial fibrillation, heart rhythm disease that affects millions of people worldwide. Together with his team, he was also the first to introduce the pulmonary vein isolation technique, which has become a fundamental part of current methods used worldwide to cure atrial fibrillation. This year, he is being recognised for the excellence of his work by the members of the Heart Rhythm Society and the scientific committee of the congress, who annually celebrate researchers who have made outstanding contributions to cardiac electrophysiology clinical research.
